Description
Friar Plum Sapling is a USA-origin Japanese plum variety known for its large fruits, aromatic flavor, and premium fresh-market quality. Early bearing, high market value, and attractive dark-colored fruits make it highly preferred for commercial production. All our saplings are certified, true-to-type, and disease-free.
The tree has a fast-growing, medium-vigorous, semi-upright growth habit. Under proper orchard management, it provides high yields. Our saplings are available on Myrobolan 29C and classic wild rootstocks.
* Myrobolan 29C rootstock: Provides strong roots and excellent adaptability.
* Classic wild rootstock: Offers durable, vigorous, and long-lasting growth.
The fruits are large, round, symmetrical, and slightly elongated at the tip. The skin is dark purple-black with a smoky appearance and may contain small yellow speckles. The flesh is yellow, firm, crisp, juicy, and aromatic. Its sweet flavor and pleasant aroma make it highly desirable for fresh consumption.
The pit is small and semi-clingstone or nearly freestone. Fruits can remain fresh for several weeks under cold storage conditions.
This variety is not self-fertile. Recommended pollinators are Santa Rosa and Black Amber.
Harvest season is between August 15β21.
