Description

Santa Maria Pear Sapling (BA 29 rootstock) is an Italian-origin pear variety widely cultivated in Türkiye, especially in the Marmara and Aegean regions. It is highly preferred due to its early bearing, large fruit size, and strong commercial value. All our saplings are certified, true-to-type, and disease-free.

The tree has a vigorous, semi-upright, and fast-growing habit. The BA 29 quince rootstock provides semi-dwarf growth, easier orchard management, and early productivity. It adapts well to modern orchard systems and produces consistently high yields.

The fruits are medium-large to large, averaging 180–250 grams, with a conical-oval shape. The skin is light green with an attractive pink blush. The flesh is white, moderately juicy, aromatic, and pleasantly flavored. It is highly suitable for fresh consumption and short-term export markets.

Depending on the growing region, harvest generally takes place between mid-July and early September. Fruits can be stored for approximately 2–3 months in cold storage.

Recommended pollinators include Williams and Abate Fetel.
