Description
Deveci Pear Sapling (BA 29 rootstock) is a Türkiye-origin pear variety, originally popularized in the Ordu–Fatsa region, and is considered one of the country’s leading commercial pear cultivars. Its exceptionally large fruit size, long storage life, and export potential make it highly valuable. All our saplings are certified, true-to-type, and disease-free.
The tree has a medium-vigorous and spreading growth habit. The BA 29 quince rootstock provides semi-dwarf growth, early fruiting, and regular productivity. It is well adapted to colder climates and performs successfully in various growing regions.
The fruits are extremely large, typically weighing 300–600 grams. They have a short conical shape with yellow-green skin and a light pink blush on the sun-exposed side. The skin is smooth and russet-free. The flesh is firm, crisp, very juicy, and richly aromatic, making it highly desirable for fresh consumption.
Harvest time varies by region but generally occurs between September 19–25 and mid-October to early November. Fruits can be stored for 5–6 months in cold storage, making this variety one of Türkiye’s leading export pears.
Recommended pollinators include Akça and Williams.
