Description
Grafted Cornelian Cherry Sapling (Şenköy Variety) is a high-yielding local cornelian cherry cultivar selected from the Şenköy region of Çınarcık, Yalova. It is also locally known as Ergen, Eğren, Kiren, and Kıran. All our saplings are certified, true-to-type, and disease-free.
The tree may develop with upright, spreading, or slightly drooping growth habits depending on the growing conditions. It is a strong and long-living fruit species valued both for fruit production and ornamental landscaping due to its attractive early spring blossoms.
The fruits are large and may be elliptical, cylindrical, or slightly conical in shape. Skin color can vary from red to yellow or red-yellow combinations. Flesh color may be red, pink, cream, or yellow. The fruits have a pleasantly tart flavor and are rich in antioxidants.
Cornelian cherries are widely used in jam, marmalade, syrup, juice, and traditional food production. The fruits are also suitable for storage and post-harvest handling.
This variety is self-fertile and does not require pollinators.
Blooming occurs between February and March, while harvest season extends from mid-July to late October depending on the region.
